Game recomendation corner

On this page you will find videogame recommendations from me, one for a month. This will only include games that I played and liked ( or perhaps even loved). This will mostly be text, because I'm too lazy to add a bunch of screenshots each time. If you want to see previous recommendations, see link to archive at the bottom of the page.

RAM: Random Access Mayhem

RAM is a top-down rougelike in which you take control of your enemies. It recently released in early access, and its only flaw is lack* of content.

You play as a AI with no body of its own, awoken by someone with purpose of causing chaos to enemies of that voice

Gameplay is like your typical top-down shooter, the levels are similar to Hades: decent variety, but ultimately linear. What RAM has to offer are following: You don't play as one character, but instead have to switch between 6 robots. You want to swap hosts because there are no ways to heal for most of the run, and because of the style meter. You gain Fitness by being stylish, and you can be stylish by swapping a lot and by killing enemies in fancy ways.

The 6 bots each have a primary and a secondary attacks, and are also very varied. Most (except for one) seem basic, but they each will take time to master them. To be the most stylish you must not just learn all 6 playstyles, but swap between them constantly. This may sound quite difficult, but it's not as bad as it might seem. In my 27 hour playtime of the demo I managed to figure out the first 4 robots to a T, and in 19 hours of EA (As of the time of me posting this) the two new ones became easy to use as well.

The upgrades are Hades-like as well. 3 to choose, normally for random selection of robots. There are shops every now and then, where you can spend Fitness for more upgrades, or to heal, or both if you are stylish enough.

*So far, there are, 6 of 8 planned robots, 2 of 3(?) areas, good amount of bot upgrades, Permanent upgrades, Difficulty multipliers, a Horde mode, fishing minigame that no one knows how to play, and Early part of the story. What is lacking are: 2 interactable factions (Routers and Aphids), Proper controller support (Swapping is awkward on the controller), and what feels like 2/3 of the story (second boss is not even a character right now).

And, my own sole complaint is that the swapping lock-on is not as good as it can be. It works overall, but can fail you if you are targeting a group of enemies and is trying to get one particular bot. Also, I don't typically see any issue with the screen shake, and I don't have it with this game as well, UNTIL you get killed sometimes and when try to swap, the screen goes crazy! Maybe resolved since I wrote this text IDK yet.
